About my last update, about me clarifying that I do NOT support Wix's stance on the genocide. (There. I SAID IT BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE. THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS WHAT IT IS.)

Yet... Here I am, uploading my stuff here...

I wrote this since...

God. I'm having a dilemma over uploading this platform. AGAIN.

It worked well uploading my work here. Yet, the reality check made me doubt if this was a good idea in the first place.

I abandoned this platform TWICE over their bad decisions (Eclipse and DreamUp)

Yet, I return to it. Especially since this is the place I started. This year is going to be the 10-Year Anniversary of me starting here and with it, the start of my creative journey.

Uploading to DeviantART is like selling your stuff to a marketplace that began as your popular yet friendly local area. But it got bought by a big company and slowly turned that friendliness and uniqueness into a corporate soulless entity.

And the company owner of the marketplace is supporting or doing horrible stuff.

And you are hesitant to do something about it because you genuinely love the people who are you selling to.

Or another analogy. It's like living with parents who support the opposite of the things you actually support.

But you aren't sure to leave your house, since your parents gave you the lessons and support for your grown. But you have to deal with supporting stuff that you find it disgusting.

That's what it feels like supporting this platform now.

Late-Stage Capitalism or "Late-Stage Internet"? "Corporate-Stage Internet"? Fucking Sucks and I Hate It.

Oh god, and I thought that with the Eclipse fiasco, DA wouldn't get worst...

Now they're implementing AI?!

Like, It feels like DA is begging for us to leave their platform!

I don't want to delete my work, since I don't want my works (Especially my older ones, like Walfas, Kisekae, and writings. Especially my creepypastas) to become lost, making them inaccessible.

But, UNLESS DA retracts their AI shenanigans, (Which I doubt they would since AI stuff costs money, and stopping their DreamUp project would be disastrous in the economic part) I won't be posting on DA anymore.

If anyone wants to still follow me and my work, there's my Carrd.Co with ALL of the websites that I'm in, posting my work. Click on the icon of the platform of your preference and follow me there.

I'm mainly posting on Twitter, (For now, since it is ALSO burning down) Tumblr, Newgrounds and Instagram. But I'm also trying to support other platforms like Mastodon .art, Pillowfort, Toyhouse, etc.

So yeah... I won't be active here anymore, unless the AI stuff is no more.

Maybe some lurking but... yeah...

I'm not mad, I'm just dissapointed.

Because CLEARLY DeviantART/Wix are SO disconnected from their userbases. Eclipse, not adding ways to avoid seeing fetish art, NOW AI... Again. I'm not mad, I'm just dissapointed.

It really feels like a dark age of being a artist on internet...

FIRST ENGLISH, THEN SPANISH

Hi, Elec Here.

Yes I'm back after so much inactivity here.

I dedided to NOT moving accounts. I'm still going to be here. The original concern is because of my previous work. Like old drawings and the Kisekae and Walfas stuff. But... I really hope that deviantART would start to recommend my new work.

I'm starting to feel better about deviantART. I'm seeing that it's getting a bit better on their Eclipse design.

So, i'm going to submit more stuff here.

I'm currently submitting my work that I submitted in other sites like, Twitter, Tumblr, Newgrounds, etc.

So... Long story short.

I'll been more present in some friends' livestreams, (All in Spanish) I'm currently learning about HTML and CSS; and programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. And now I love Battle Network 6 and writing about their WWW members. I love those idiots so much, Especially Vic, Yuika and Ito. The last one being a comfort character now. (I love Ito/Satoru so much)

So yeah. Welcome Back, Elec.

ESPAÑOL

Hola, Elec aquí.

Sip.

Voy a subir mis dibujos futuro aquí.

Y ahora adoro Battle Network 6. Me gusta escribir sobre los miembros de WWW de ese juego. Especialmente "los Tres Chiflados" (como lo apodamos), Vic, Yuika e Ito. Especialmente el último ya que se volvió mi comfort character. (Adoro a Ito/Satoru)

Asi que, Bienvenido de vuelta Elec.

I'm still going to DeviantART, don't worry. But I decided to use other sites.

Due to the recent issues with DeviantART, I made a new E-Mail for these new accounts, dedicated to my work.

Art Twitter: https://twitter.com/elecalice_works

Usually active there and my Personal Twitter

Art Tumblr: https://elecsworks.tumblr.com

Could possibly change that, because my main Tumblr blog is blocked (Due to the Restricted blog. But I don't think I reblogged R-18 stuff there before...), and I don't think that I can't change the main blog to my art one. Probably could make a new Tumblr in my new E-Mail.

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thunderblade2001/ Here I can Upload my traditional art first. And Sometimes I post previews in my Stories.

Newgrounds :new: : https://elecaliceworks.newgrounds.com

Recently I started to get more into it. I love the site.

CONTACT:

Discord: Note Me! (Also active there)

Personal Twitter: https://twitter.com/RoboticAlice (Although, you can Message me in the Art one) Here, is usually retweets.

NOTE: This is the Translation Spanish-to-English of my Journal. If there's some typos, tell me

These days, DeviantART announced that in May 20, they will delete the old site in favor of Eclipse, unleashing a lot of disapproval from the users to the point to create the Sound of Silence Movemente, which is a 3-Day Boycott to show the user's discontent who will be forced to use Eclipse.

Why is this happening? Let's check it out.

The Eclipse Uncertainty - The Sound of Silence Movement

To clarify this, DeviantART is the most known art community webpage, where people can submit whatever they want, like drawings, literature, photos, etc.

Ignoring the "Weird" side of the Page, it's a good pace to show your own art and to get feedback from the users.

Eclipse is the Redesign which started in 2019. Eclipse has a lot to talk about. Especially the downs like...

  • The Inability to use Custom Code to your Profile, from HTML to CSS; disabling a lot of customization (It's something to talk because one of the very first deviations was a Custom for Windows 2000)

  • Less Customization options, like disabling folders Thumbnails, leaving only the deviations capable to get Thumbnails; disabling the custom skins for Journals.

  • Presence of Bugs. (EXTRA: In a Video from Ace's Art Gallery, it's revealed from Former Eclipse Beta-Testers that there's little to no difference between the Beta and the Final)

And The Biggest Complaint, It's LESS intuitive than the former page and it's less User-Friendly.

A good example of that lack of intuition, it's to trying to put to a specified favorites folder.

In the old page, it was easy. Mantain the left button in the deviation, it will bring you a list of your favorite folders. You can search that folder where you want to put it, and when you find it, drop the deviation there. And Done.

Another alternative is to go to favorites, wait to show you the list of the folders, click the folder you want, and done.

In Eclipse, it's not possible to drag a deviation and put it in a folder. You have to click "Add to Favourites", wait to show you a Added notification, which can let you discard it or to change collection. You have to click "Change Collection", discard the folder you don't want to put it and clicking the folder you actually want to put that deviation.

In this Journal, shows some of the features that are going to be gone in Eclipse.

(NOTE: Check the comments for the Corrections. Not Everything that's listed in the deviation are going to be gone. BUT Some features are going to be more hidden than in the former page)

People even noticed that Eclipse is plagiarizing Artstation's page design. (Artstation also being a known Art-Related website) (It also reminds me when the DeviantART logo was also criticized of Plagiarism)

Also thanks to Eclipse, Pixel Artists are going to be excluded. Same as Coders who do custom related stuff.

Also, people don't want their Core anymore. Core is to get more custom features, like Polls and custom journal skins.

But due to Eclipse deleting some custom functions, Core is not needed anymore, so people are trying to get refunds. BUT there's some reports (From Ace's Art Gallery) that people only get their Core Removed. DeviantART didn't give them a refund of their money.

(I used some info of the video to do this and the original spanish version. It's recommended to check the video)

^Also in the comments of this journal, there's people who didn't get their money back, and other horror stories about users trying to get a refund.

People are protesting, submitting journals and deviations showing their dissapproval towards Eclipse.

That led to the users joining The Sound of Silence Movement. Created by the user Howl-a-Hart, it's a Boycott, ergo avoiding the use of a product or service as a form of protest; against DeviantART Eclipse. It will go from May 1st to May 4th. A Boycott of 3 Days. But there's users who suggests to extend the boycott more.

People are doing Change .org petitions about stopping DeviantART of forcing their users to use Eclipse and to stop the deletion of the former page, and a LOT of people signed.

Also a user did a Plug-In that fixes some appearance aspect of Eclipse, like deleting the square in some small deviations. But remember, it only fixes in Appearance aspects.

And even people are making a DeviantART alternative page. ArtSpacious. Which will try to get the best features of the old DA page in their site.

(NOTE: They're not affiliated to Artrise, which is also a In-Development art website.)

MY THOUGHTS

I Agree a lot of the criticism to Eclipse. It's more slow to navigate and it can be annoying.

Althought I started to doubt that the Boycott would make DeviantART, or more specifically Wix (The actual owners of DeviantART) to notice that the community do not want to use a redesign that has more downs than ups.

Another way that Eclipse would have worked, it's to fix the issues in it. If they don't do anything to fix Eclipse's design issues, DA/Wix will be more criticized. Because, again, Eclipse isn't very user-friendly compared to the former site design.

I was using DeviantART since July 2014 (Before the logo Redesign), and it's where I discovered and decided to go to the creative way. This is where I decided to dedicate in the arts in the future. Thanks to DeviantART, I met a lot of people. People who I admire and a lot of awesome friends from different places of the world.

Thanks to DeviantART, it showed me the Path of the Arts and it make to dedicate myself to that Path. And It could be the same to a lot of people.

DeviantART is a Community. Made by the people for the people. Without that people, the community will go downfall if they don't do anything. The People have made DeviantART stay active and alive during 20 years, it make people to discover new people with the same interest and/or people to admire their work. It opened a door to a lot of people the opportunity to show their work to the world, improving their work and even getting them a opportunity the Arts, in one way or another.

Now, the people are losing hope in the plataform where they've been in for years, and It could be damaging to the image of DeviantART/Wix.

Something that is worrying it's the fact that DeviantART/Wix are moving away from their users. Not Listening to them and damaging that Page/User trust, and doing more damage than good.

dA being very open

^A demostation about how DeviantART/Wix doesn't want to listen to their users^

About ArtSpacious, we really need those DeviantART alternative pages. I wish this project to be actually done. I don't wish this project would end up being Vaporware, ergo will not be existing. I'll be aware to the project progress.

I wish luck to the ArtSpacious team.

About Eclipse, I understand that DA/Wix wanted to change DeviantART appearence. But at least they should focused to make it Intuitive more. Eclipse is like Style without Substance. Or more like, Style without being Practical. "If is not broken, Don't fix it".

And with this, I leave this post. Despite my doubts, I will participate in the Boycott. If DeviantART/Wix doesn't do anything, they will lose their users and worst, their Trust. The Trust of the people who are being in the plataform for a lot of years. That would leave a black spot in their Reputation. If they don't do anything, Anything will go downfall.

Elec Disconnecting.
